Snowpocalypse 2.0

Tomorrow will likely bring shoveling while Baltimore digs itself out of this mess. In the meantime, we are very much snowed in, a term I will no longer use casually! It was a great chance for me to catch up on client e-mails, editing, and most importantly, take advantage of my dogs for a photo opportunity.

Meet Zoey. She is our four and a half year old cockapoo who behaves much like an angry teenager. She is really just biding her time with us until she saves up enough money to catch the next bus out of here. Of course, we are pretty much the Meanest Dog-Parents in history because we expect her to do things like move over so we can sit next to her on the couch, go on walks, and eat out of a dog dish (don't ask - I really don't have an explanation). So today in the midst of Snowpocalypse 2.0, I found Zoey sitting at the door, wanting to go outside. After an hour of watching her sit at the door and look back at me, all "Seriously Mom, there's a bus out there with my name on it. All the other kids are going," I finally caved and let her out. She lasted about 15 seconds, only putting 3 feet down in the snow at a time, before she turned around and made a beeline for the house.

Of course, I wouldn't be the Mean Dog-mom she thinks I am unless I took advantage of this torture as a photo opportunity. Enjoy!

Note: No animals were harmed during the taking of these photographs. As much as Zoey might have you believe otherwise.

Fun in the park

The Ovens were such a fantastic family to work with. Almost two weeks ago now, we held our collective breath and hoped that it wouldn't rain on our Saturday morning session. Sure enough, the rain held out, but the ground was still soggy from the night before. Not to be deterred, we decided to head down the street to the park, where I think we got some great shots of the whole family, and their two precious boys, Thomas and Will. This session was also memorable because I got Thomas' seal of approval for being "nice"!

Baby pictures!

I really try not to overdo it on the exclamation marks. I swear. But these pictures just screamed for one. How could they not? I couldn't help myself from smiling as I was editing them. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do and that they make your Monday a little brighter!

City Chic!

Picking a location for portraits is a great way to add a personal touch to your images. For my friend Kimi's portrait session, we chose Fells Point and wandered down some of her favorite streets. We had a great time, got some really fun portraits, and as an added bonus got frozen yogurt at Mr. Yogato. If you enjoy these images half as much as I enjoyed my yogurt with raspberries and brownie crumbles, you're in for a treat!

Snips and snails and puppy dog tails

I recently had a portrait session with Matthew and Patrick, two handsome boys who were such a pleasure to work with. Not only were they so enthusiastic about everything I asked them to do, but they also had fun coming up with their own poses. They were such fun to shoot, and I think that comes through in the final result. Thanks for being so cooperative guys. Here are a few of my favorites!

Teresa Lee - DC event planner

Last week I got the chance to meet with Teresa Lee, a DC event planner, and creator of Rex and Regina. We met in Dupont Circle in DC, which is a great neighborhood for photos. As any good event planner should, Teresa has a fabulous sense of style. She arrived in a fantastic blue dress and some serious high heel shoes, and at 7 in the morning, no less! Head on over and check out her website - she has a great blog too with a ton of great event planning tips - enjoy!

Teresa's husband Brian was nice enough to jump in so we could get a quick couple shot. Isn't that a gorgeous ring? Nice work Brian!

Vacation, all I ever wanted...

Last week, my friend Emily and her wonderful family invited me to join them on their vacation to the Outer Banks. We had a great time, and even got to eat fresh fish the guys had caught that day. It was delicious! Here are some pictures of their dogs' morning romp on the beach. Bodie, the littlest of the bunch, had the right idea and dug himself a little hole in the sand where it was much cooler. Many thanks to Emily and her family for adopting me for the week!

Tristan and Lexie

Last weekend I had the pleasure of doing a portrait session with Tristan and Lexie, two of the most adorable puppies I have seen in a long time.  They are litter-mates, but they are already developing their own personalities.  Lexie LOVES treats, and will follow you around all day as long as you have a bag of treats.  By the size of Tristan's paws, he is going to be a big boy, and it looks like he's going to be a troublemaker!  When he wasn't chewing on his mom's patio cushion, flowers, or my camera bag, he was pouncing on me and knocking me over.  They were such fun to play with, but I have to say it was hard to edit these pictures without running out and getting one of my own.  I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them!
